8è APLEC – JORNADES INTERNACIONALS DE PLEGAT EDUCATIU

8th APLEC – INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EDUCATIONAL FOLDING
From 21th to 23th November 2025
Badalona (Catalonia), Escola Betúlia

FOLDING AT SCHOOL

This year, the APLEC International Conference on Educational Folding is dedicated specifically to folding at school. We want to highlight how folding can become a powerful tool in the classroom, capable of transforming learning and enriching the educational experience at all stages, from primary school to university.
Folding is not just a fun or artistic activity: it is a cross-curricular methodology that helps develop basic skills such as attention, memory, creativity and problem solving. It also allows for the connection of disciplines as diverse as mathematics, science, languages, art and history.
At school, folding provides specific benefits:
● It facilitates active learning and visual understanding of curricular content.
● It stimulates fine motor skills and coordination, especially in the initial stages.
● It promotes inclusion and cooperation, since everyone can participate without the need for prior knowledge.
● It enriches creativity and imagination, offering resources that go beyond textbooks.
● It generates motivation, magic, surprise and interest, transforming the classroom into a more dynamic and participatory space.
For three days, we will offer workshops, conferences, practical experiences, exhibitions and meeting spaces with the aim of showing how folding can easily be incorporated into the classroom dynamics and adapted to all educational levels.

HOW CAN FOLDING BE USED IN THE CLASSROOM?

Folding paper (or other materials) is much more than a craft: it is a cross-curricular tool that can be applied to different subjects and educational levels. At the A-PLEC conferences, teachers will find:
● Immediate teaching resources to work on mathematics, geometry, proportions and symmetry in a visual and manipulative way.
● Strategies to promote students’ concentration, attention and memory, while stimulating patience and perseverance.
● Creative and artistic activities that enhance imagination and the capacity for personal expression.
● Inclusive tools for working with students with special educational needs, promoting fine motor skills and self-esteem.
● Interdisciplinary projects that connect folding with science, languages, art and even history and culture.
● Origami games that turn folding into a fun and motivating activity for students.
● Discovery of the storigami methodology, which consists of telling a story while folding, combining narrative and creativity.
● Free spaces to share moments of folding and exchange experiences with other participants.
● Conferences and workshops given by international specialists in educational folding.
● In the same day, different types of workshops focused on working on content from all areas of the curriculum, from mathematics to the humanities and the arts.
● The activities proposed in the workshops can be adapted to all educational levels, from kindergarten and primary to secondary and university.
Thanks to this variety of proposals, each teacher can adapt folding techniques to their educational context, enriching classes and discovering new ways of learning and teaching.
